As many of you know, Therese was ALWAYS late to gatherings and parties… we’d always give her a time to show up that was an hour in advance of the scheduled time. But this time, Sis, you’re the FIRST one to the best party of all…eternal life in heaven. Michael GalvezThis memorial website was created to remember our dearest Therese Marie Galvez Carrera who was born in California on July 25, 1961 and passed away on July 20, 2010. Therese was a lifelong Fremont, CA resident. She graduated from Mission San Jose High School (class of '79) and UC Berkeley. A member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, she gave generously to the Tri-City Homeless Shelter. A stay-at-home mom for many years, she worked for the Alameda County Planning Department. Therese enjoyed playing piano, softball, tennis, and cooking. She loved to spend time with family and friends; Therese could sit and visit for hours without tiring or getting bored. She will forever be remembered for her ability to see and love God's child in all people, her strong faith, and her selfless giving.
Beloved wife of Arthur Carrera for 23 years. Devoted mother of David the oldest and only son, Michelle the first daughter, and Stephanie the youngest Carrera, all of Fremont, California. Dearest daughter of Richard and Lin Galvez of Newark, California. Loving sister of Celine Galvez (partner Kindra Donald) of San Jose, California and Michael Galvez (wife Cheryl) of Newark, California. Sweetest Auntie to Marcus her Godchild and Marisa Galvez. Loving daughter/sister-in-law to Dionisio and Remedios Carrera, Bill & Carol Carrera, Lisa Carrera, and Nelson Carrera. Niece to Sue Galvez, Eusebio & Betty Manaois, Ben & Ruth Manaois, Ed & Estrelita Goulart, and Ernest & Pat Manaois. Most loving cousin to over 100 Galvez, Manaois, Nahale, DeJesus, Leuck, Lazarte, Christe, Credo, Rubio, Blixen, Olamit, Fabionar, Schell, Ellison, and Goulart cousins.
March 18, 2011 - On behalf of the family I would like to thank all of our friends and family for the many generous donations toward the Carrera children's education(s). As you know, soon there will be two in college and many regular life activities to be funded for little Stephanie. Therese wished, prayed, and hoped for a quality education for all her children, this, demonstrated in all of her hard work and dedication to her family. Thank you family and friends who traveled from near and far to attend Therese's visitation service on Monday, July 26th held at Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels and funeral mass Tuesday, July 27th, held at Holy Spirit Church. Her body now rests in peace at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery and her soul is in Heaven with our Lord. (Did anybody else see the cool dragonflies that came to meet her at her final resting place?)
Therese is greatly missed and leaves with us her message of Faith, Family, and Friends...what change are you making to live your life to meet that ultimate goal of meeting her and God in Heaven?
